Entering the UK: An Important Step in Xpeng Motors' Global Strategy

On February 12, 2025, Xpeng Motors held its UK launch event at London Bridge on the Thames, officially announcing the pre-sale of its first right-hand drive model, the Xpeng G6, in the UK. This marks a successful entry into the UK market and injects strong momentum into its global expansion journey.

The Xpeng G6, a flagship product of Xpeng Motors, has gained wide recognition in the market since its domestic launch due to its outstanding performance, advanced intelligent technology, and excellent cost-effectiveness. Upon its arrival in the UK, the Xpeng G6 continues to showcase its competitive edge, with a starting pre-sale price of £39,990 (approximately ¥364,000). Deliveries are expected to begin in March 2025. This pricing not only aligns with local market demand in the UK but also highlights Xpeng Motors' price advantage in the global market.

The UK, as one of the largest new energy vehicle (NEV) markets in Europe and a key right-hand drive vehicle consumption region globally, plays an irreplaceable role in Xpeng Motors' global strategy. In recent years, the UK government has significantly increased its policy support for new energy vehicles, setting an ambitious goal of achieving zero emissions for all new cars by 2035, and actively advancing the construction of charging infrastructure to support this target. Over the past four years, the number of charging stations in the UK has steadily increased, laying a solid foundation for the flourishing development of the NEV market. According to data, UK new car sales reached 1.953 million units in 2024, with pure electric vehicle sales soaring by 21.4% to 382,000 units, accounting for 19.6%; plug-in hybrid electric vehicles (PHEVs) grew by 18.3%, accounting for 8.6%; and hybrid electric vehicles (HEVs) rose by 9.6%, accounting for 13.4%. These figures clearly show that UK consumers are rapidly shifting towards electric and low-emission models, highlighting the huge potential of the NEV market.

To further expand in the UK market, Xpeng Motors has formed a deep collaboration with IML (International Motors Ltd.), a renowned European automotive dealership group. This partnership is a key milestone in Xpeng Motors’ expansion in Europe and globally. Gu Hongdi, Vice Chairman and President of Xpeng Motors, stated: "Our partnership with IML is an important step in Xpeng Motors’ global strategy. We are confident that with Xpeng Motors' cutting-edge technology—ranging from futuristic design and excellent driving range to ultra-fast charging technology—we will resonate strongly with UK consumers and bring smarter, more environmentally friendly mobility solutions to the UK and beyond."

IML, with its strong industry resources and rich market experience in the European automotive dealership sector, will provide robust support for the promotion and sales of Xpeng Motors in the UK through its comprehensive sales network and high-quality after-sales service system. The collaboration between the two parties will not only help Xpeng Motors quickly integrate into the UK market, increasing brand awareness and market share, but also reshape the smart mobility landscape in the UK and drive the popularization and development of new energy vehicles in the country.
